“Kent State University has allowed me to do just about everything I have wanted to do,” said Dior Delophont, senior fashion design major and standout women’s track and field competitor at Kent State.
Many international student-athletes also revealed the university’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has gone above and beyond to make their transition to the U.S. as comfortable as possible. The university offers international students a welcoming and team-driven environment, both academically and athletically.

Kent State University held its 46th annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with events taking place April 26 through May 4. The annual commemoration, hosted by the May 4 Task Force, provided an opportunity for the university community to gather and remember those who were lost and injured during the tragedy and also reflect on what May 4 means today.

Kent State University officially registered 402 student organizations on campus this spring semester, a record-breaking number for the university, according to the Center for Student Involvement.
“Reaching this high number of student organizations on campus reflects the kind of students that are enrolling at Kent State: an engaged student who is ready for new opportunities,” said Katie Goldring, assistant director of the Center for Student Involvement at Kent State.

Kent State University student Nahuel Gorostiza, a freshman digital sciences major, is now the United Nations (U.N.) Youth Delegate of Argentina.
Voting in Argentina
Gorostiza was born in Argentina and lived there until starting college last fall at Kent State. He had always been interested in politics and played an influential role in the recent presidential election in Argentina, which helped him qualify as a youth delegate.

Kent State University’s 22nd annual FlashFest hosted an array of music genres, including rapper Wiz Khalifa, country artists Chase Rice, Jon Langston and Lacy Cavalier, and electronic music duo 3OH!3. This annual celebration that occurs at the end of the spring semester is organized and presented by Kent State’s Undergraduate Student Government.

“Don’t put any idea off as a joke,” said Richard “Hart” Main, a Kent State University sophomore economics major from New Philadelphia, Ohio. “I almost did that and missed an opportunity.”
The 18-year-old entrepreneur, from Kent State's College of Business Administration, is referring to ManCans, his company that makes and sells masculine-scented candles with a philanthropic twist.

Cynthia Roller, Ph.D., R.N., CNP, CNM, was a passionate nurse practitioner and researcher who passed away suddenly on Feb. 28, 2016, after a tragic accident. Earlier this year, she was selected by Kent State University’s College of Nursing as our Scholar of the Month for April. As a way to honor her and her research, the college and her family requested that we continue with our plan to feature her. Our academic community mourns the loss of an extraordinary colleague.

When the concept of homelessness comes to mind, people tend to focus efforts on food donations, but Ashley Flowers, a junior majoring in psychology and criminology and justice studies at Kent State University, wants to remind people that clothing and toiletries also are essential items.
A native of Maple Heights, Ohio, Flowers is collecting money and putting together care packages filled with warm clothing and toiletries for those less fortunate in the Cleveland and Kent areas.

The talents of 18 Kent State University students were on display at Kent Student Center Programming’s 12th annual Rock the Runway fashion show, which took place March 5.
Fashion was king on a night that featured the sights and sounds of this year’s theme, The Jacksons.
In front of a Kent Student Center Ballroom crowd of nearly 800 attendees, models showcased clothing designs which included elements inspired by The Jacksons’ music. Judging was based on line cohesiveness, craftsmanship, interpretation of the theme and general design.
